On the 23rd of December 2023, the global president of the Charles and Doosurgh Abaagu’s Foundation (C&DAF), Dr. Priscilla M. Achakpa, embarked on a heartfelt outreach visit to Jato-Aka in the Kwandi Local Government Area of Benue State. The C&DAF is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the less privileged, and this visit was a testament to their ongoing commitment to service and humanity.

In attendance were distinguished guests including Dr. Helling Teghtegh, the founder of Community Link, and Abaagu Torkwase Anne Marie, the Executive Director of the Women Environmental Program (WEP), along with other staff members of WEP. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration and collective effort in addressing the needs of the underprivileged.

To ensure the outreach was well-coordinated and that the support reached those who needed it most, Dr. Priscilla Achakpa engaged with the chief and elders of the community prior to the visit. This step was crucial in identifying the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and organizing the distribution of aid effectively.

The primary purpose of the outreach was to provide the less privileged with essential items to help them celebrate Christmas with dignity and joy. The distribution included 60 wrappers, 60 bags of rice, 60 pieces of firewood stoves, children’s wear, and one cow, all specifically allocated for the IDPs. With the invaluable assistance of the community chief, the items were successfully distributed to those in need.

Providing vital supplies to those in need

Dr. Priscilla Achakpa concluded the visit with words of encouragement, offering hope and assurance to the community members. She emphasized that while the current situation may be challenging, efforts are being made to improve their circumstances. She assured them that the government is working towards securing their land and properties, and encouraged them to remain engaged and proactive within their community. By fostering a spirit of unity and growth, Dr. Achakpa believes that positive change is on the horizon.

This outreach not only provided immediate relief but also reinforced the commitment of C&DAF to support and uplift the less privileged, embodying the true spirit of service and compassion.
